COSMIC ARK – A sci-fi rescue mission… now on Oric!
Originally launched into the universe of the Atari 2600 in 1982, Cosmic Ark put players in charge of a spaceship on a desperate mission to save alien lifeforms before their planets are destroyed. Now, 40+ years later, the game lands on the Oric with a fresh 8-bit glow!
This version is a faithful port of the original Cosmic Ark, adapted to run on the classic Oric 8-bit computer. Despite the hardware differences, it retains the core gameplay and atmosphere, bringing a beloved Atari 2600 classic to a new platform and audience.
A bit of history
Cosmic Ark was created by Imagic, one of the standout developers during the golden age of cartridge-based gaming. It was known for its imaginative setting, dual gameplay loop, and surprisingly atmospheric vibe given the limitations of the Atari 2600. The player controlled a mothership in orbit, fending off meteor showers, while sending out a shuttle to beam up alien creatures from planetary surfaces. All of this, in under 4KB!
